Before adding to your aquarium, roll the bottle on a flat surface back and forth for at least two minutes.
We recommending using the bath treatment method for protozoan-caused intestinal issues. Treatments should be uninterrupted and may require up to 10 in total. Always add aeration during treatment period. For bath treatments, follow these instructions:
- Remove any activated carbon from filters. Rinse or replace mechanical filtration media if needed. Do not completely stop filtration, as it can negatively impact your nitrogen cycle.
- For optimum results, a minimum 30% water change (using ClorAm-X®, Ultimate® or RO water) must be made prior to the first and each retreatment.
- Use one teaspoon (~10g) per 20 gallons (76L) of water every three (3) days to produce a concentration of ~5 mg/L of Metronidazole and ~2.5 mg/L of Praziquantel.
- Before retreatment, be sure to change at least 30% of your aquarium water.
- If no improvement is noted within six (6) days, discontinue treatment and consider other options.
We recommending using the oral treatment method for systemic (internal) infections. IntestiPro® can be fed mixed with fish food or used as part of a prepared food. When used as directed, will not harm biological filtration. For oral treatments, follow these instructions:
- Follow our article on how to make medicated feed using a gelatin based or dry food based mix. The gelatin based method can be used to make a food that sinks rapidly. The dry food based method usually results in a food that will sink depending on the feed ingredients you choose.
- Use the medicated feed you have just prepared in place of your usual diet. Feed at least twice daily the amount your fish will completely consume within a few minutes (no more than 5 minutes). Always remove any uneaten food after the feeding period to eliminate the chances of it negatively impacting your fish's environment.
- Continue feeding for at least three days beyond the disappearance of all signs of the disease you initiated the treatment for. Stop feeding this food once a cure is affected, and NEVER use the medicated feed as a general food when disease treatment is not being attempted.
- Feedings can be accompanied by bath or dip treatments using the same medication as you have incorporated in to the feed. Never use prepared medicated food that is more than 10 days old.
DO NOT OVERDOSE - Calculate the actual amount of water in your tank by multiplying the length x width x height and dividing by 238 to get the true gallons. Please also deduct the amount of space consumed by substrate (gravel, sand, etc.) rock, decorations or other things which are displacing water.
